The West Frankfort Chamber of Commerce Updates By-laws
Kathy Sikora, Past Executive Director of the West Frankfort Chamber of Commerce announced at the July monthly meeting of Chamber Members and Guests, that the Executive Committee has updated the By-laws by which the Chamber will operate going forward. The original by-laws were last revised in 1960 and although there will be no major changes to how the Chamber is currently operating, it was time to update the document.
She also announced that there will be elections coming up at the end of the year. There will be seven directors elected. Any member who is interested in attending our meetings, making decisions for the good of the Chamber and can be available for our events is encouraged to add your name to the ballot by calling the Chamber office (618) 932-2181 or e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org . All Chamber members will get one vote per membership. The seven highest vote-getters will be the new Board of Directors for 2017. From that seven, officers will be appointed. Copies of the new By-Laws can be picked up at the Chamber office.
July 29, 2016 - Illinois State Senator Gary Forby and State Representative John Bradley
were on hand to recognize the launch of the mitigation project for the West Frankfort Waste Water Treatment Plant. In October 2014, FEMA awarded the City of West Frankfort a $6.4 million grant for the project.
The grant will assist in the rebuild of the City's sewer plant that often suffers from flooding and water pollution concerns. The City will also contribute $2.2 million toward the project.
